Keep up the fantastic work, your son is truely lucky to have a mother like you that went the extra mile and didn't do as I did and leave all my trust in doctors that really had no idea how to cure him.

Kind regards

I am so glad I've found your web site. I was very happy to read your story and hear everything turned out better for you and your family. I am a mother of a 3 year old son, diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of one. Andrew has between 30 and 40 absence seizures a day and at least two grand -mal seizures a week. This is after trying every known medicine in the book. It seems every neurologist he sees just gives up and sends him to someone new.
I am so tired of repeating his medical history to everyone with no help in site. I have had to quite my job and stay home with him full time. Lately I have noticed his behavior is unbearable. He is constantly throwing tantrums and crying uncontrollably.

None of the doctors his seen has ever diagnosed him with Autism, but as a mother who is with him all the time I believe he does have Autistic tendencies. I don't know where to turn. I am so sad to see my child and family struggle with this . If you have any more suggestions please let me know. Thanks for your time.

I saw a film on this on TV with Meryl Streep - where could I get a copy of this and what was the name of the film please?

regards
REPLY:
The film with Meryl Streep is called First Do No Harm (1997). It is an amazing story. I have two place you might try to get the film:

1. Blockbuster
http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/DisplayMovieSpecialOffers.action?channel=Movies&subChannel=sub&movieID=128035&displayBoxArt=true

2. Contact the Charlie Foundation
The Charlie Foundation was instrumental in bringing the diet back out in the forefront. It is a great website packed full of useful information. http://www.charliefoundation.org
Hope you can find it.
Warmly

I am a Nurse/Naturopath and my husband is epileptic - the whole film was just so confirming of the dangers of Medical Science today and the possibilities of Hippocrates 'Let Your Food Be Your Medicine'.
Thankyou

Hello Arlene, Thank you very much for sending the book. Thank you for writing the book. I finally downloaded everything and finished reading it last night. I need to read it again to fully absorb everything. This is the first time I've felt hope since my son (now 2 1/2) was officially diagnosed w/epilepsy.

I don't get much time on the computer, and since reading your book, have been using every minute to research neurotherapy. I'm hoping to find someone close, but I will travel anywhere to try this for my son. It really ticks me off his neurologist never mentioned this as an option. The only option offered was drugs and he mentioned the ketogenic diet, but like you said, told me I probably couldn't do it, because it was too hard.

Hunter was diagnosed in Feb., after a 24hr video EEG. His other eeg's and mri came back normal. The Dr. calls his seizures complex partial, which he has some symptoms of, but he is not dazed afterwards. He snaps right back to reality when he's finished "taking a break". Dr. started him on Topamax - no results. Switched to Tegretol - no results. Keep increasing the dose. No results. Add Depekote - no results. Up the dose, he says! I had had enough of seeing no improvement in seizure control, seeing my little boy look like he was drunk, stumbling, falling.

I appreciate your "listening" to me and I will keep you informed to our progress. Thank you and say hi to Adam for us! Heidi
